Does ANY roast work well to make Pot Roast? The short answer is NO. You need cuts of meat with fat and obvious marbling. Those are going to make the best pot roasts. Chuck Roast is considered the gold standard cut for making a pot roast. Brisket also makes a fabulous beef roast in your pressure cooker. It’s meant for long braising in order to tenderize. Arm Roast which is also known as Yankee Pot Roast is also terrific for a traditional pot roast in the pressure cooker.

How Do I Cook a Pot Roast in my Pressure Cooker? There are a lot of variables when it comes to cooking a traditional pot roast in your pressure cooker. Thickness of meat, altitude, amount of liquid, and personal preference. Some swear by a 90 min cook time, others like to do 120, and yet again, others will say 60 min. One thing pretty much everyone agrees on is that large cuts of meat need an NPR (Natural Pressure Release).
