Soft Boiled or Poached Eggs - Instant Pot

Ingredients
  

  • 2-6 lg eggs
  • 1 cup water for a 6 Qt pot
  • 1 trivet for your IP

Instructions
 

Soft Boiled Eggs in Shell:

  • Place trivet in bottom of the inner pot in your IP.
  • Add 1 cup water and place eggs on your trivet. Close lid and set the pot to Pressure Cook for 1 min.
  • After pot comes to pressure and is done cooking, allow a 1 min NPR. When that is done you may QR to release the rest of the pressure.
  • Immediately place eggs in cold water until they are cool enough to crack and peel. Gently peel and serve with salt and pepper.
  • You may need to experiment a bit with timing to get eggs just perfect for your taste. If eggs are too done, you can skip the 1 min NPR and immediatley QR instead. If your eggs aren't quite as done as you like, you can add 1-2 min to your NPR time. (Perfect soft-boiled eggs will vary from person to person. We all have different tastes.)

Poached Eggs in Silicone Molds:

  • Prepare silicone cupcake molds by spraying with cooking spray. Crack one egg into each mold and place on trivet.
  • Add 1 cup water and set to Pressure Cook or Manual for 1 min HP and QR to release the rest of the pressure.
  • Open pot and check eggs for doneness. Some pots will vary and altitude makes a difference as well.
  • You may need to experiment a bit with timing to get eggs just perfect for your taste. If eggs aren't quite done you can add 1-2 min to your NPR time. If you think your eggs are overcooked and the yolk isn't runny enough, switch to Low Pressure when cooking.

Notes

  • Eggs can be tricky. You may need to try them a couple of times to get them just right and tweak the time. But there are a lot of things that can vary when it comes to eggs. Size of egg, age of egg, temp of water, how much water, slight variances in pot temperature, elevation or altitude you are cooking, etc. Just tweak it until you get it right.
